Joan Mullarvey is an established artist living in North East Victoria and describes herself as an artist who walks the line between printmaking and painting. Living along the Murray River where bushland and farmlands nestle comfortably side by side, Joan often finds herself caught between formal, representational and expressionist content expressing an idea or an image which might connect with people or simply offer a quiet moment of contemplation.
By deconstructing form and structure and recreating the landscape Joan uses the rhythms and patterns of the land to create bold contemporary images of lived experiences and memories of places both real and imagined, primarily of her local surrounds. Creating a sense of place and for the viewer to enjoy.
Joan’s work is held in private collections both domestically and internationally and she has been the recipient of many awards and commendations.
