”My travels into the Arid Zone have inspired this body of work.
The Arid Zone is defined as areas of land which receive an average rainfall of 250mm or less. I have made several trips to the Flinders Ranges in recent years and one trip to the Broken Hill area.
I am inspired by the patterns in the desert landscape, the rocks on the surface all broken to a similar shape and size, patterns of evenly spaced cypress pines and the patterns of evenly spaced spinifex.
The Flinders Ranges are monumental with the jaggered rocky horizon lines and the ever-changing colours as the light changes during the day. The sunrises and sunsets are powerful subject matter for the landscape artist.”
