“My work explores colour, movement and texture through mixed media, primarily acrylic on canvas. By applying paint directly to the canvas, spreading it by hand, brush or simply dripping with specially shaped pencils, I try to embrace spontaneity in every piece.
Inspired by my travels, photography and vision, my art invites viewers to ponder their own interpretation or simply enjoy the view.”
Born in Tatura in 1945, Ian Muir grew up on a small orchard as the youngest of seven children. His artistic journey began through the automotive industry, where he worked as a spray painter for many years, developing a keen eye for colour and design. This passion naturally expanded into visual art, leading him to experiment with various mediums, including painting on canvas.
Beyond painting, Ian is also an accomplished emu egg carver and a dedicated musician, writing, recording and performing original songs with his wife Glennys. His artworks have been exhibited in group shows across Brisbane and the Gold Coast, as well as an amazing exhibition in Iran, where he collaborated with his wife Glennys and selected Australian and Iranian artists.
Now for the first time, Ian presents his debut solo exhibition, marking a significant milestone.
