Originally from the remote town of Broken Hill, Passalaqua has always drawn inspiration from the brilliant colours of the Australian outback landscape. Passalaqua is compelled to capture the rich bold colours of Australia on canvas, whether working in the studio or ‘en plein air’.
The layers of a work are often built by Passalaqua using different mediums which move across the surface of the paper or canvas to build complexity in colour, shape, pattern and tone.
Recent artworks were painted by Passalaqua on the banks of the Murray River, to be within the landscape, to hear the river flowing by and the cockatoos calling in the treetops.
